| The
phone itself doesn't support Power-over-Ethernet, but with
an additional Active PoE Power Splitter (PoE 48V to 5V) there's
no need to do without it. As the snom 190 supports the codec
G.723.1, it is compatible with considerably more components
of other manufacturers.
With respect
to speech quality, the snom 190, even with low bandwidths,
achieves a standard that was previously only possible with
broadband technology.
With the
technical implementation of the current specifications by
the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), snom is also setting
standards with regard to security. Due to the two VoIP security
standards sips (RFC2246) and SRTP (RFC3711), the unwanted
tracking or eavesdropping of conversations between the snom
190 and other compatible end devices is practically impossible.
